Evie Berry Mittens - free crochet pattern-

Image
Shown on a 6 year old Shown on a 10 year old  A crochet mitten pattern for kids aged 6-10ish! There's a reason why I'm so excited about this, it's because I searched tirelessly for a free mitten pattern that would fit a 6 year old girl... and couldn't find one. Okay, well I did find two patterns, but they were boring, bland and a bit confusing. It seems there are so many free patterns for babies, toddlers and adults, but we skip an entire age range. So here I am, I wrote my own. Luckily I have a 6 and a 10 year old available to try them on and test them out! Now these will probably fit a child maybe a year younger and maybe a year older, that's why I say 6-10ish. These will almost fit myself, just slightly small. If I added a few more rounds here and there, I could make them adult size.  That all being said, there are ways you can change this pattern up a bit if you'd like to. I used two colors and made use of the Berry Stitch. But, you can just use one color th...

Chevron Knit Look Hat -Free Crochet Pattern-

Image
Ah, 'tis the season to start thinking about cooler temperatures!  With a slight chill in the air, comes the wonderful world of crochet hats. This cool hat caught my eye due to it's colors and style. The classic knit work sock colors give this hat a traditional vibe, and the chevron stripe gives this hat a new twist on the accent colored stripe.  And not to forget that this hat looks knitted, but is definitely crochet instead! If you don't know how, or have never heard of the wst (waistcoat) stitch, now is the time to try something new. There are several tutorials out there to show you how, and it's easy! This is a Ravelry download. All Year Round Poncho -free crochet pattern-

Image
Here is an example of something so beautiful, but yet so easy!  All you need to know is how to make a single crochet (and a bit of basic sewing). Basically, you just use a large hook and make two rectangular panels. Then you sew them together and voila!  There is a video tutorial if you actually need help.  Another bonus, is that this can be worn in so many ways!  The designer lists and shows a quite a few of them. I think this may become me side project! (I have lots!) Easy Basic Boho Hood -free crochet pattern-

Image
You can do so many things with a basic crochet hood!  You can give it braids, buttons, beads, add ears, horns, eyes, pom poms, and so much more. I've been making a few hoods lately, and this is the pattern for its basic structure. I added big wooden beads onto the braids of mine to give it bit of a Bohemian vibe. I really love my basic hood pattern because it is not flat at the back, however instead, it sort of butterflies out and around the shoulders, so that there is no bulkiness behind the neck. This pattern is super easy!  It consists of half double crochet, chains, and a bit of reverse single crochet for the border.  Designed By: Farrah Hodgson  Skill Level: Easy Materials:   1 ball Red Heart Super Saver, (4) Medium Worsted Weight, Color: Aran Crochet Hook size 5.5mm (I) Large wooden beads, however many you wish, I used 14. (optional) Yarn Needle Size: Adult Finished Measurements: Height at back is 10", front 16", Width fo...

Tutti Frutti Slippers -free crochet pattern-

Fresh into a new year, why not try a new crochet technique?!  If you haven't tried the Tunisian entrelac stitch before, here's a great project to get started. The designer has included a video to help you out, which I know helps me greatly when trying something different, that sometimes words alone can be difficult to understand. And the result? A pair of fun crochet slippers! Windowpane Scarf -free crochet pattern-

Image
I love the color changes taking place in this beautiful crochet infinity scarf!  What's great about this design, is that it actually doesn't require several different color changes and yarn; but it's done by using one yarn with a gradient color change on it's own. While you don't need to use the exact yarn as shown in the pattern, it is fairly easy to find an equivalent type of this yarn at any yarn store.  Using simple crochet techniques, you can create your own scarf in no time. The Viking Mittens -free crochet pattern-

I am happy to find this new and refreshing crochet mitten pattern today!  Featuring the popcorn stitch, these mittens have a cozy and unique feel. I am sure that the yarn has a lot to do with it, but I'm going to play around with this anyway with yarn that I have in my stash. They look really fun! Columbia Chevron Super Scarf -free crochet pattern-

As soon as I see black, white, or grey I get excited. Even more so, this is one nice super scarf!  So, you've probably noticed by now that super scarves are the next big thing in crochet and knit this season, and I honestly didn't know what to think of them at first. But the more I see, the more I like. For example this crochet super scarf, with the use of chevron lines in basic colors, which makes a super impact! And the pom poms... I love those too! The Twist Headband -free crochet pattern-

Image
Although I love a great winter hat to keep me warm and stylish during the cold winter months, sometimes, you just want to wear a ponytail!  On those days I like to wear a warm headband instead, so that's my main reason for a headband. However, crochet headbands look fabulous with any style of hair, and this one is perfectly fashionable and simple. The twist headband uses basic crochet stitches with an interesting (and cute) twist!  (note: you will need some sewing skills) Designed By: All About Ami Skill Level: Easy Materials: Lion Brand Woolspun Bulky Yarn Size 6.5mm Crochet Hook Get the Free Pattern!

Plaid Slouch Hat -free crochet pattern-

Image
Ah, I love this hat!  I love when I think I've seen everything, and then something like this comes along and proves me wrong. Plaid has been around forever (thanks to the Scots!), it comes and goes in fashion, yet it remains a timeless piece to any wardrobe. This hat pattern implements plaid, by using tapestry crochet, carrying the unused colors behind the worked colors. It's a great beginner tapestry pattern because the blocks of color are even. I can't wait to make one! Designed By: Whistle & Ivy Skill Level: Intermediate (due to tapesty) Materials:  Medium Weight Yarn (Knit Picks Brava in Red, Wine and Black, plus Dove Heather for pom-pom) I Hook Darning Needle Get the Free Pattern!

Dragon Scale Armour Boot Cuffs -free crochet pattern-

Image
If you still haven't learned how to make the crocodile stitch, now's a great time!  I've been making these for a holiday craft show coming up soon, so by now I have the pattern memorized. However, I'd love to share it with you, because it's quick and pretty easy; don't let those complicated looking stitches scare you away. Once you learn the crocodile stitch, you'll be designing your own patterns! (btw, the crocodile stitch makes a great mitten or glove cuff!)  I only included one size for these cuffs, however they do stretch quite a bit, but if you'd like them smaller or larger, you may adjust your hook size. So here's my pattern, enjoy! Designed By: Farrah Hodgson (Firene Designs) Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:  Worsted Weight Yarn of your choice (Medium, 4) about 180 yards. (I used Ice Yarn, Brico Wool, two 50 g balls) Size 5.00mm/H crochet hook yarn needle to sew in ends Finished Measurements: 6 inches wide at top ...

Vertical Cable Beanie or Slouch Hat -free crochet pattern-

Image
This pretty hat caught my eye right away!  Of course, mainly because I love anything grey, white, and black, but secondly, the style of the hat. It uses clean lines, textured cables, and the addition of the cute fur pom pom. The designer has written this pattern to include two variations, a fitted beanie, and a slouch hat. I am going to give this one a try! Cabled Headband Hat w/big Button -free crochet pattern-

Image
Here it is, my version of the crochet cabled headband slouchy hat with a great big button! I've been making this hat for over two years now, and it's still my top seller at local craft fairs, markets, and custom orders.  I've honestly been making it free form and from memory, but recently decided to actually write it down so that I can share it with you.  It's a very cute hat, and only requires knowledge of the basic stitches, plus the crab stitch (otherwise known as rsc - reverse single crochet) and working over post stitches. The highlight of this hat, really, is the giant button.  You can find them in all sorts of places, but I buy mine online from a Canadian (because I'm in Canada and shipping is faster to me) yarn company called knitca.com    Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:   1 ball of Loops & Thread Impeccable; color Soft Taupe used in pattern; 277 yds/253 m; 4.5 oz/127.5g (or similar) *Note...
