This gorgeous crochet bag uses simplicity, monotone color, and design elements such as fringes to give it this cute Bohemian vibe. Capulin Cross Body Bag -free crochet pattern-

I always think of new bags when I think of fall, I don't know why! But this one caught my eye today, I love tapestry crochet, you can do almost anything. I actually started out doing tapestry crochet when I first learned crocheting when I was a teenager!  I would take a photo of a celebrity or performer, adjust it to high contrast black and white and print it onto graph paper. Then I would go from there.  Once you have the technique down, it's really easy and fun to do!  Here's a great project to try, and it's beautiful as well! Designed By : Tamara Kelly Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:  US – H, 5.0mm hook 375 yds Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool (Aran/10 ply; 465 yds/425 meters; 8.01 ounces); Color A (CA): Brown Heather – 1 skein (265 yds); Color B (CB): Natural – 1 skein (110 yds) Finished Size: 10.5″ x 10.5″, excluding handle/strap Get the Free Pattern!

Moroccan Tote -free crochet pattern-

Is this bag beautiful or what?!  I think I just found my next 'for me' project!  My current crochet bag, that I use as my everyday purse is about four years old now, so it's time for something new.  This absolutely stunning tote bag uses tapestry crochet to create this design.  Tapestry can take more time, as you are always carrying and working over the unused color as you go, but this is how you get a sturdy and gorgeous crochet tote bag! Maya Purse -free crochet pattern-

This crochet purse caught my eye right away because it is absolutely stunning!  I love the use of color, and especially love how this bag is a stash buster. Imagine the color possibilities!  I like using random stash colors because the end result is sort of a surprise. While parts of the pattern are written out, you will have to use your head a bit in following the chart, but it's pretty easy to follow the color changes. Granny Square Mermaid/Fish Tail Bag -free crochet pattern-

Image
I love how versatile the granny square is, you can make just about anything!  Mermaid tails are pretty popular right now, ever since the mermaid tail lapghan came about, and you may have already seen my little mermaid tail gift bag s.  Actually that's what inspired me to write this pattern, someone over at Ravelry had made my gift bag in a large format, and thinking "my daughter would love a big bag", but... I don't have enough yarn!  If anyone looked at my yarn stash, they'd say I was crazy, because my bin is full (over-flowing!) But, it's ALL scrap yarn, various colors, fibers, textures, etc. Not enough of one yarn to complete a big project. So instead of heading out the yarn store, I decided to try to use some of this stash up, and try to make the bag in granny squares instead, so here it is! Like I said, this is made from ALL scrap yarns!  I made the big green bag first, I pulled out all of my green toned yarns.  I wanted to make the bag in a wor...

Kid's Backpack -free crochet pattern-

Image
This crochet backpack is super cute, and I'm sure any kid would love it! But you know what, I love it too and I would use it for myself!  First though, it's a bit of a process to get this free pattern.  It is listed in a pattern store, so you have to complete the "purchase" which is free of course, but you will need to enter all of your info, like name and address and create a password.  I ran into a problem, just for a moment though... when it asks for your country, all of the countries listed are European, I'm Canadian, and there's no Canada listed... so I tried US, nope... no US either... so i just used UK, and it worked :)  You will then be taken to a downloadable link and voila! You now have the pattern! Designed By: Yarn Plaza Skill Level : Easy Materials: Katia Capri colour 140 7 balls (double thread).  Crochet hook 4.  Size: height 26cm, width 24cm Get the Free Pattern! Although the colors used in this crochet bag are not quite my style, I really love the design!  I can imagine this bag in neutrals or brown tones to give it a bohemian feel.  This would not be a beginner pattern, and one must have some experience or concept of switching and carrying colors, but the end result is worth it. Mermaid Fish Tail Treat Bags -free crochet pattern-

Image
I had been approached by a regular customer of mine, a mother of two small children, to create some treat/gift bags for the upcoming birthday of her little girl.  With the Bubble Guppies (kids tv show) as the theme, our first thought was to create character bags for each child.  However, instead we agreed on mermaid tail or fish tail bags, keeping in theme of the tv show, but making the bags similar to one another. (and avoiding any child conflict on wanting another child's bag instead:) ) I am quite pleased with the result, and have decided to share this free pattern with you today! Starting from the bottom up, you will work the tail fin back and forth in short rows, where the first and last row are joined, and continue to work up in rounds.  The top decorative edge is made by using the crocodile stitch, and finally finished off with the simple drawstring. Photos and hdc crocodile stitch tutorial included! Designed By: Farrah Hodgson aka Firene Design...
