Check out this pretty crochet cowl from Willow Yarns!  The texture in this design is stunning, resembling the look of cables.  This is an experienced pattern, however, it is written well and the end result is worth it. Capulin Cross Body Bag -free crochet pattern-

Image
I always think of new bags when I think of fall, I don't know why! But this one caught my eye today, I love tapestry crochet, you can do almost anything. I actually started out doing tapestry crochet when I first learned crocheting when I was a teenager!  I would take a photo of a celebrity or performer, adjust it to high contrast black and white and print it onto graph paper. Then I would go from there.  Once you have the technique down, it's really easy and fun to do!  Here's a great project to try, and it's beautiful as well! Designed By : Tamara Kelly Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:  US – H, 5.0mm hook 375 yds Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool (Aran/10 ply; 465 yds/425 meters; 8.01 ounces); Color A (CA): Brown Heather – 1 skein (265 yds); Color B (CB): Natural – 1 skein (110 yds) Finished Size: 10.5″ x 10.5″, excluding handle/strap Get the Free Pattern!

Entwined Helix Scarf -free crochet pattern-

Image
Wow, wow, and wow! Just look at this crochet scarf! I love it when I come across something unique, especially in scarves, because when you think you've seen it all, a stunning piece like this gives me goosebumps. This pattern uses a "Tunisian Knit Stitch" and honestly, I have no idea how to do this. I guess it's time to figure it out, I love a good challenge! Designer Kim Guzman includes written instructions and sources for learning tunisian crochet. Designed By: Kim Guzman Skill Level: Advanced Materials:  Schachenmayr Tahiti, 99% cotton, light fingering, 306 yds per 1.75 oz: 1 (2) balls or 306 (612) total yds required (shown in color 7642 jazz)  Suggested hook size: 5mm Tunisian crochet hook Get the Free Pattern!

Granny Cocoon Shrug -free crochet pattern-

Image
Now if you can crochet a granny square, you can crochet this cocoon shrug! This beauty is made from two large granny squares, folded, attached along the edges, and crocheting a border along the unworked edges and armholes. It's as simple as that!  The pattern or what I'd rather call a "tutorial" does not come with the granny square instructions, so that knowledge is required, but there are several easy tutorials out there to help you with that. This pattern is brought to you in steps and measurements, but it's still so easy. This is something that I need to make for myself! Designed By: Maria Valles Handmade Skill Level: Easy Materials: two strands of single-ply unspun Icelandic wool (called plötulopi), which is about the equivalent of worsted weight; 440 g/1320 m Crochet hook - 7 mm - Yarn Needle Size: Custom Get the Free Pattern!

Big Tartan Super Scarf -free crochet pattern-

Image
So this seems to be the big new trend this coming season, the "Super Scarf". It's extra long, very wide, and wraps around your entire body. Basically, it's exactly what it sounds like: a big giant scarf.  I'm not sure where this new trend originated from, however, I am suddenly seeing it everywhere!  I like the way that it looks, cozy and sophisticated along with the tartan design, in this particular pattern, but I must admit, that I would probably not ever wear it myself. What do you think?! Firene Wine Glass Lanyard -free crochet pattern-

Image
This is dedicated to all of you wine lovers out there! Myself, oddly am not a big wine fan, amidst a family full of wine enthusiasts, but I do enjoy drinking my cider from a fancy wine glass, so this works!  This is not a new idea, you've probably seen more versions of this out there, but I wanted to try my own. I chose worsted weight cotton because it's sturdy and doesn't give off "the fuzzies" from the yarn like acrylic, because nobody wants yarn fuzz in their drink .  These are quick, fun and easy to make! One little ball of Bernat Handicrafter yarn makes two lanyards with a little bit of yarn left over. I used a small hook with a thick yarn, so this is supposed to be worked up quite tight. I didn't set a gauge, however, try not to let the tension get loose. If you need the glass holder smaller, easily omit chains in each round. And for a larger holder, add chains in each round. The same goes for if you prefer to work with a smaller weight of yarn,
