The Dwell Sweater -free crochet pattern-

Doesn't this sweater look nice and cozy?!  Cocoon sweaters are all the rage this season, and this crochet beauty wraps the design up nicely. I love the fact that the designer has included cuffs for the arms and I absolutely love the pockets! The pattern uses easy post stitches and chunky yarn so this sweater works up fairly quickly. The design also includes a fantastic description and instructions on making your very own! Chevron Knit Look Hat -Free Crochet Pattern-

Image
Ah, 'tis the season to start thinking about cooler temperatures!  With a slight chill in the air, comes the wonderful world of crochet hats. This cool hat caught my eye due to it's colors and style. The classic knit work sock colors give this hat a traditional vibe, and the chevron stripe gives this hat a new twist on the accent colored stripe.  And not to forget that this hat looks knitted, but is definitely crochet instead! If you don't know how, or have never heard of the wst (waistcoat) stitch, now is the time to try something new. There are several tutorials out there to show you how, and it's easy! This is a Ravelry download. Plaid Blanket Poncho -free crochet pattern-

Image
Is it just me, or do you think ponchos are taking the "in" spot in crochet apparel this season?  Everywhere I look lately, I see ponchos!  Especially the sort of Bohemian style poncho... ah, maybe that's what it is!  This particular poncho is very "boho", with it's rustic plaid design and it's fringes. Ponchos are a great accessory for spring, where it's warming up, but not warm enough yet to go without cover; and stylish. That's what it's all about! Here is an example of something so beautiful, but yet so easy!  All you need to know is how to make a single crochet (and a bit of basic sewing). Basically, you just use a large hook and make two rectangular panels. Then you sew them together and voila!  There is a video tutorial if you actually need help.  Another bonus, is that this can be worn in so many ways!  The designer lists and shows a quite a few of them. I think this may become me side project! (I have lots!) Easy Basic Boho Hood -free crochet pattern-

Image
You can do so many things with a basic crochet hood!  You can give it braids, buttons, beads, add ears, horns, eyes, pom poms, and so much more. I've been making a few hoods lately, and this is the pattern for its basic structure. I added big wooden beads onto the braids of mine to give it bit of a Bohemian vibe. I really love my basic hood pattern because it is not flat at the back, however instead, it sort of butterflies out and around the shoulders, so that there is no bulkiness behind the neck. This pattern is super easy!  It consists of half double crochet, chains, and a bit of reverse single crochet for the border.  Designed By: Farrah Hodgson  Skill Level: Easy Materials:   1 ball Red Heart Super Saver, (4) Medium Worsted Weight, Color: Aran Crochet Hook size 5.5mm (I) Large wooden beads, however many you wish, I used 14. Cabled Headband Hat w/big Button -free crochet pattern-

Image
Here it is, my version of the crochet cabled headband slouchy hat with a great big button! I've been making this hat for over two years now, and it's still my top seller at local craft fairs, markets, and custom orders.  I've honestly been making it free form and from memory, but recently decided to actually write it down so that I can share it with you.  It's a very cute hat, and only requires knowledge of the basic stitches, plus the crab stitch (otherwise known as rsc - reverse single crochet) and working over post stitches. The highlight of this hat, really, is the giant button.  You can find them in all sorts of places, but I buy mine online from a Canadian (because I'm in Canada and shipping is faster to me) yarn company called knitca.com    Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:   1 ball of Loops & Thread Impeccable; color Soft Taupe used in pattern; 277 yds/253 m; 4.5 oz/127.5g (or similar) *Note...

Big Tartan Super Scarf -free crochet pattern-

Image
So this seems to be the big new trend this coming season, the "Super Scarf". It's extra long, very wide, and wraps around your entire body. Basically, it's exactly what it sounds like: a big giant scarf.  I'm not sure where this new trend originated from, however, I am suddenly seeing it everywhere!  I like the way that it looks, cozy and sophisticated along with the tartan design, in this particular pattern, but I must admit, that I would probably not ever wear it myself.
