365 Crochet

Is it just me, or do you think ponchos are taking the "in" spot in crochet apparel this season?  Everywhere I look lately, I see ponchos!  Especially the sort of Bohemian style poncho... ah, maybe that's what it is!  This particular poncho is very "boho", with it's rustic plaid design and it's fringes. Ponchos are a great accessory for spring, where it's warming up, but not warm enough yet to go without cover; and stylish. That's what it's all about! First, I love the design of the crochet poncho. Second, I love the sharp high contrast color scheme, and third, I love the fringes, tassels, and the tapestry element!  This cute poncho is great for spring, and really, any color combo would look great. Here is an example of something so beautiful, but yet so easy!  All you need to know is how to make a single crochet (and a bit of basic sewing). Basically, you just use a large hook and make two rectangular panels. Then you sew them together and voila!  There is a video tutorial if you actually need help.  Another bonus, is that this can be worn in so many ways!  The designer lists and shows a quite a few of them. I've been seeing a knitted version of this all over social media lately, which is a pattern by Heidi May, in her shop, The Velvet Acorn . (Her patterns make me want to learn to knit, they are beautiful!) I love every pattern that comes from Drops Design.  Their gorgeous models and photography always help too!  This lovely poncho design uses the granny stitch, very similar to a granny square.  This garment even has a detachable collar! Fringed edges and a drawstring complete the look.  Simple things can look so amazing when yo use the right yarn and colors.  But remember, a project like this requires a lot of yarn!
