This is my second hula hoop mandala that I've made from jute!  I made my first one last fall, when hula hoops were 'out of season' and it was almost impossible to find one!  When I did find one, it had a bend in the hoop, I bought it anyway at a discount, and tried to get the bend out, but it came back and sorta ruined the look of my mandala.... that being said, this is the best time of year to buy hula hoops (spring!) This lovely is hanging on my black wall right now.  Although it makes for great and interesting wall art, it is going to make its way outside and hang from my garden shed (that I need to paint first).  This mandala is not hard to make, just a bit rough on the hands! You can easily make one in a few hours. If I could give jute a yarn weight, I'd say it's bulky or chunky. This is dedicated to all of you wine lovers out there! Myself, oddly am not a big wine fan, amidst a family full of wine enthusiasts, but I do enjoy drinking my cider from a fancy wine glass, so this works!  This is not a new idea, you've probably seen more versions of this out there, but I wanted to try my own. I chose worsted weight cotton because it's sturdy and doesn't give off "the fuzzies" from the yarn like acrylic, because nobody wants yarn fuzz in their drink .  These are quick, fun and easy to make! One little ball of Bernat Handicrafter yarn makes two lanyards with a little bit of yarn left over. I used a small hook with a thick yarn, so this is supposed to be worked up quite tight. I didn't set a gauge, however, try not to let the tension get loose. If you need the glass holder smaller, easily omit chains in each round. And for a larger holder, add chains in each round. I was finishing up a project one day that used these yarns, and didn't really have enough left to make anything big.  Then I went on to make some boot cuffs using a different color and pattern for a friend... and while making those boot cuffs, the idea for these boot cuffs popped into my head.  I've included 3 different sizes, depending on where you will wear them on your legs, as boots have different heights. These crochet legwarmer boot style slippers are a result of a custom order that I recently made for a customer.  I was sent a random photo of some slippers that were posted on a local buy/sell web site, so "someone" has made these before.  But from which pattern?  Did they invent them?  What materials did they use?  I do not know!  A google image search brought me this one and only photo which has since been removed.  ( I assume they sold them!)  So... began the thought process.  The slipper bottoms look a lot like the bottoms of of my short crocodile boots , so I rolled with that.  The tops, are really easy, just basically rows of dc stitches.  The tops are attached to the bottoms as you work from top to bottom, with no sewing required! I designed this crochet hair kerchief around the same time that I wrote up the pattern for Pineapple Head Hair Kerchief .  This pattern loosely follows the same crochet method as the granny square, however the shells are worked into the previous shells instead of the spaces between, and it is, of course, a triangle!  This is a fun,easy, and gratifying pattern, as it works up quick!
