These cute crochet socks are adorable!  The spiral in the heel gives these socks a unique twist. This design is quite different than any other sock pattern that I have seen, as you begin at the heel!  Then you work the leg, and finish off with the foot and toe.  This pattern looks very interesting, I can't wait to give it a go. This is a Ravelry download. Designed By : Ooh I love It! Dragon Scale Armour Boot Cuffs -free crochet pattern-

If you still haven't learned how to make the crocodile stitch, now's a great time!  I've been making these for a holiday craft show coming up soon, so by now I have the pattern memorized. However, I'd love to share it with you, because it's quick and pretty easy; don't let those complicated looking stitches scare you away. Once you learn the crocodile stitch, you'll be designing your own patterns! (btw, the crocodile stitch makes a great mitten or glove cuff!)  I only included one size for these cuffs, however they do stretch quite a bit, but if you'd like them smaller or larger, you may adjust your hook size. So here's my pattern, enjoy! Designed By: Farrah Hodgson (Firene Designs) Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:  Worsted Weight Yarn of your choice (Medium, 4) about 180 yards. Knee High Socks -free crochet pattern-

Image
There's a photo circulating on Pinterest like a wild fire of busy knit knee high socks with flower embellishments.  I had been sent that photo numerous times with people wanting me to make them. However, the pattern is knit, and I really didn't have the time to attack and design a crochet version.  But, it seems I wasn't the only one!  This designer has done it!  And I think she did a pretty amazing job as well, look at that detail and texture. I love the look of these crochet slippers!  They look stylish, cozy, and fun, and the pattern is written for all women's sizes, you can't go wrong!  I think this would be also another great project to use up yarn leftovers in the color work.  That's exciting, because I have a bad habit of keeping tiny scraps of yarn.  The slouchy effect of these slippers are cute, I am pretty sure this is being added to my "to make" list. I really like legwarmers, and they are one of those things that are pretty simple to make.  These particular crochet legwarmers add style by using post stitches to create texture, and vertical ribbing to finish them off.  Bulky weight yarn and a latge hook is also used, so that they work up faster. My Grey Sock Boot Cuffs -free crochet pattern-

Image
I was finishing up a project one day that used these yarns, and didn't really have enough left to make anything big.  Then I went on to make some boot cuffs using a different color and pattern for a friend... and while making those boot cuffs, the idea for these boot cuffs popped into my head.  I've included 3 different sizes, depending on where you will wear them on your legs, as boots have different heights. The small (12 inch) size is the standard size. I really like the traditional grey/red/white colors that you often see in knit socks (and monkeys) so here it is! Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Easy Materials:  less than 1/4  ball Grey worsted (4) yarn (Craftsmart from Micheals was used) small amount of Aran (off white) worsted (4) yarn (Red Heart Super Saver was used) small amount of dark red worsted (4) yarn (Scrap yarn was used, unsure of brand, but any will do) Crochet hook size 4.00mm Sizes: Small, Medium, and Large ( size ad...

Short Crocodile Boots -free crochet pattern-

Image
I've been on a slipper making frenzy lately, and decided that it was about time that I write this pattern out so that other people can understand it!  Boot slippers can be quite easy to make once you find a sole and foot pattern that you like to follow, because from there, it's all in the leg of the slipper.  This pattern begins loosely following the pattern for Rows of Cables Boot Slipper s, but changes into the crocodile stitch for the cuff.  I love the crocodile stitch, and if you've never tried it, here's your chance!  Many people use different variations for this stitch, it depends on what you're making, but the basic concept is always the same.  I will try my best to describe it to you (with photos!). Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level : Advanced Materials: Bernat Super Value, Worsted (4), approx 389m (426 yds), Taupe Size 5.0mm (H) crochet hook Yarn Needle to sew in ends Size: Women's medium foot, US shoe size 7-9 -----UPDATE!! -...

Rows of Cables Boot Slippers -free crochet pattern-

Image
I can't take full credit for this pattern!  This is a "re-make" of my mother's pattern, Cabled Boot Slippers .  I love the look of cables, boots, and slippers; and love the original pattern, however, the yarn I was using did not match the pattern gauge so I had to change it up a bit.   The original uses double strands of Red Heart Super Saver worsted, and I've been using Red Heart Comfort worsted.  Both are worsted, but there's quite a difference!  My yarn, double stranded, made the original pattern come out way too big!  I tried dropping my hook size, it seemed to help for size, but it was really hard on my hands as the tension was so tight.  I wasn't letting this pattern go, so I had to re-think the process! So now using one strand of worsted yarn, I was able to re-write the pattern.  They are not as chunky as the original and have a couple extra cable rows for length.  But the basic concept is the same!  These slippers wo...

F643 Yoga Socks -free crochet pattern-

Image
This simple Yoga Sock pattern uses front and back post stitches to give this perfect look of sock ribbing.  The idea behind yoga socks are to keep an open toe and heel, which are the points on the feet needed to grip a yoga mat or surface, while supporting your feet and keeping them warm.  This is great because the toe and heel are usually the hardest part in making socks, and you can skip it! Designed By: Sue Hilger Skill Level:  Easy Materials:  Plymouth Yarns; Sakkie: 1—100G skein, color 401 Ocean Hook: US Size D/3 (3.25mm) Size:  To Fit Average Woman’s Foot- 7 ¾” circumference Get the Free Pattern!

High Top - Legwarmer Barefoot Sandals -free crochet pattern-

Image
Feet are on my mind after recently designing two new sock patterns, but I'm tired of winter, and I feel like beaches, flip flops, and barefoot sandals!  I actually designed this legwarmer style barefoot sandal/sock pattern last summer, which was created with "yoga socks" in mind, for a friend. (who was actually using them for yoga!)  So, recently, I had a few balls of sock yarn lying around, and took that opportunity to actually write out my pattern to share.  Enjoy! These barefoot socks work from the foot and up to the top of the leg.  If you can make a granny square, you can make these!  The double crochet stitches turn into longer stitches (htr, tr, hdtr, and dtr) as you work up the leg to give it more stretch.  You can also quit at any time as you're working up the leg, if you want them shorter, just stop after any round and skip to the very last finishing round. These look great pulled all of the way up to your knee, or slouched down as well! ...
