Plaid Blanket Poncho -free crochet pattern-

Image
Is it just me, or do you think ponchos are taking the "in" spot in crochet apparel this season?  Everywhere I look lately, I see ponchos!  Especially the sort of Bohemian style poncho... ah, maybe that's what it is!  This particular poncho is very "boho", with it's rustic plaid design and it's fringes. Ponchos are a great accessory for spring, where it's warming up, but not warm enough yet to go without cover; and stylish. That's what it's all about! Everyone needs a beautiful chevron crochet throw blanket (aka afghan!) and here's a wonderful pattern and tutorial to get you started!  I really like the chevron pattern, it's simple to make, and you can have a lot of fun playing with color!  The best afghans that I've ever made, seem to come from scrap yarn and miscellaneously putting colors together, so I think that this may be my next project! A Crochet Headboard - A look inside my bedroom!

Image
This is where I sleep. I'm inviting you into my personal space today because I want to show you my headboard!  I'm so excited about this because my headboard is of course... crocheted. I gave my room a makeover a few months ago, and I'm still looking for some pieces to complete the look, like a cool chandelier, and some type of large artwork... I haven't found anything "perfect for me" yet, but it will come in time, I'm sure. My headboard used to be on that list.  I originally wanted a big white upholstered headboard.  I love the way they look, so classy, sophisticated and cozy.  And they're really expensive!  After already dropping a pile of $$$ on decorating the rest of my new house and developing my yard, a big lavish headboard was just not in my budget. And I'm cheap? No.... not cheap, I prefer to save my money for fun and yarn (and landscaping)!  Most of my home decor is second hand finds, that I either re-finish or things that I actual...

Corner to Corner Baby Blanket -free crochet pattern-

Image
My favorite colors right here, in this awesome corner to corner crochet blanket!  This particular design is for a baby blanket but would be easy to make larger.  However, this is still pretty amazing as a baby blanket, I love the diagonal pattern, it's sharp and trendy and would look great in baby's room!  What I love even more about crochet baby decor is that you can make it match your theme easily by using whatever colors you want.  This would be a lovely baby gift. Blanket Yarn Fedora -free crochet pattern-

Image
I got a really great deal on this Bernat Blanket Yarn, so I stocked up on a few balls.  I made several beautiful pillows, and had one ball left.  I had so much fun with this yarn that I felt like trying to make something different.  That's where the pattern for my Fast Blanket Mittens came from.   I still had quite a bit of yarn left and decided to make a hat.   The Blanket Yarn is very soft, but holds its shape very well, so the fedora came to mind!  I've attempted many fedoras in the past, and they only work with a stiff or thick yarn to keep the shape of the brim and the puckering at the top.  Not only was this hat fun, it was very quick to work up!  Enjoy :) Designed By : Farrah Hodgson aka Firene Skill Level: Easy Materials: Size 6 Super Bulky Yarn; Bernat Blanket Yarn, 1 ball Vintage White; 10.5oz/300g; 220 yds/201m; (you will have some left over) Size 8.0mm crochet hook Stitch Marker (optional) Size: Adult head Gauge: ...

Fast Blanket Mittens -free crochet pattern-

Image
Do you need mittens, and need them NOW?!  Well, if you have about an hour of time, a ball of super bulky yarn and a big hook, you can have new mittens today!  These mittens work up super quickly, and they are very cozy and warm!  I've been using a lot of this type of blanket yarn lately, for accent pillows for my home and I love working with it.  There's a certain gratification that comes with finishing a project quickly and admiring your work.  I fell in love with this yarn so much for its softness and ease, that I wanted mittens of the same texture.  This is an incredibly easy pattern, only requires one ball of yarn (which will actually make more than one pair of mittens), there are only 21 rounds, and requires basic crochet knowledge. These mittens also make great gifts! (Christmas is around the corner) , and these are a wonderful item to make for charity, as they work up so fast, that you could make several pairs in a day.  To sum it up, t...
