Inner Beast -free crochet pattern-

Well, this is a strange looking pattern... and you know?  I love strange things!  This odd looking creature caught my eye right away, As I was scrolling through patterns, I briefly passed this one, and I'm pretty sure my exact words were, "Wait, wait, wait, ... what was that!?"  So I scrolled back and started giggling. I mean, this thing is adorable!  As I started reading the pattern details, it got even better, because this creature is a total stash buster!  What a great way to start a new year, by ridding yourself of bits of yarn from the past.  I seriously can't wait to try this one!  This is a Ravelry download. Hip Cozy -free crochet pattern-

Image
For something so simple, I've taken a liking to this cute crochet hip cozy. It's like a mini skirt that simply wraps around your hips with a button closure. I think this would look really cute over tights. You could also even wear it as a cowl or cape! The pattern writing is a bit quirky, but by doing a quick read through first, you will easily get an idea for what's going on. Amelia Poncho -free crochet pattern-

Image
I've been seeing a knitted version of this all over social media lately, which is a pattern by Heidi May, in her shop, The Velvet Acorn . (Her patterns make me want to learn to knit, they are beautiful!) Today, I found this beauty of a crochet version, so get out your hooks and get to it!  It has it's differences from the knit poncho, for example the ribbing all along the edges, but the basic concept is about the same.  This designer also has a child's version of the pattern. Designed By: Left in Knots Skill Level: Easy Materials:  Wool-Ease Tonal Yarn - 9 skeins (I used color Slate Blue-and there are TONS of beautiful colors to choose from) L/8.0mm crochet hook\ 8- 1 5/8" buttons Yarn needle Scissors Get the Free Pattern!

Cabled Headband Hat w/big Button -free crochet pattern-

Image
Here it is, my version of the crochet cabled headband slouchy hat with a great big button! I've been making this hat for over two years now, and it's still my top seller at local craft fairs, markets, and custom orders.  I've honestly been making it free form and from memory, but recently decided to actually write it down so that I can share it with you.  It's a very cute hat, and only requires knowledge of the basic stitches, plus the crab stitch (otherwise known as rsc - reverse single crochet) and working over post stitches. The highlight of this hat, really, is the giant button.  You can find them in all sorts of places, but I buy mine online from a Canadian (because I'm in Canada and shipping is faster to me) yarn company called knitca.com    Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:   1 ball of Loops & Thread Impeccable; color Soft Taupe used in pattern; 277 yds/253 m; 4.5 oz/127.5g (or similar) *Note...

Fall is very near, even though it's still very warm where I am, it is heavily on my mind, especially with school supply shopping for my child... for the very first time! My baby is not a baby anymore, hello kindergarten. But not to get off track, with seeing fall clothing, decor and more as I'm shopping, it is more evident that fall is close. With the cooler temperatures comes warmer clothing and accessories, and what is more attractive than a great fall cowl?!  This lovely pattern features attractive lines, ribbing, and buttons. Chevron Belt -free crochet pattern-

Image
I need a new belt, maybe I will make this one!  I have a lot of crochet thread scraps that I could use to give it a cool color combination!  The designer used two strands of crochet thread to achieve the firmness of this belt, but you could most likely use any yarn.  I do like the idea of the thread though, it has a different feel.  I can't wait to get some down time to try this out! Comfy Cotton Shorts -free crochet pattern-

Image
This pattern was a spontaneous idea that came to mind after buying this yarn.  The yarn was meant for a different project, but I had decided not to do it, sooo.... I can't stand having a large ball of yarn in my stash with no plans for it.  I have some ideas for crochet cotton shorts, which I was going to use a lighter weight cotton, but thought, "hey, I'm going to try these in the worsted weight."  Normally I would have used a different color, I'm not real fan of this color blend, but I AM pretty happy with the design itself. It's very easy and it works up quick.   There's also so many ways to customize these shorts!  You can easily make them shorter or longer, use multiple colors, stripes, add pockets or leave them without, or add even more pockets... it's up to you!  I can't wait to see your projects. And here's a friendly warning! This particular yarn DOES shrink!  So don't put them in the dryer, be safe and hang them to dr...

Apple Crisp Cowl -free crochet pattern-

Image
I find the cowl patterns that have been appearing this fall, are becoming even more beautiful.  By adding an edge along the rows of a basic button cowl, it gives this design a nice finished look!  Button cowls are a nice change from the traditional cowl.  While not using as much yarn, and quicker to make than a scarf, this scarf emits beauty with the clean structure of the rows and added buttons. The "Andy" Button Scarf -free crochet pattern-

Image
How pretty is this?!  At first glance, i thought it was a button cowl, which I love.  But this design gets even better, because it's really a long scarf, that you can make look like a button cowl!  This clever pattern uses ribbing along the entire length to give that nice fitted look, along with end buttons so that you can simply turn it into a cowl, keeping the scarf in place around your neck.  I think I'll be making one of these for myself in the very near future! Designed By: Krista Cagle Skill Level:  Advanced Beginner Materials: Size J crochet hook 6.00 mm Yarn needle 340 yards of Lion brand Vanna’s choice yarn in Linen (or any worsted weight (4) yarn.
