Plaid Slouch Hat -free crochet pattern-

Image
Ah, I love this hat!  I love when I think I've seen everything, and then something like this comes along and proves me wrong. Plaid has been around forever (thanks to the Scots!), it comes and goes in fashion, yet it remains a timeless piece to any wardrobe. This hat pattern implements plaid, by using tapestry crochet, carrying the unused colors behind the worked colors. It's a great beginner tapestry pattern because the blocks of color are even. I can't wait to make one! Vertical Cable Beanie or Slouch Hat -free crochet pattern-

Image
This pretty hat caught my eye right away!  Of course, mainly because I love anything grey, white, and black, but secondly, the style of the hat. It uses clean lines, textured cables, and the addition of the cute fur pom pom. The designer has written this pattern to include two variations, a fitted beanie, and a slouch hat. I am going to give this one a try! Cabled Headband Hat w/big Button -free crochet pattern-

Image
Here it is, my version of the crochet cabled headband slouchy hat with a great big button! I've been making this hat for over two years now, and it's still my top seller at local craft fairs, markets, and custom orders.  I've honestly been making it free form and from memory, but recently decided to actually write it down so that I can share it with you.  It's a very cute hat, and only requires knowledge of the basic stitches, plus the crab stitch (otherwise known as rsc - reverse single crochet) and working over post stitches. The highlight of this hat, really, is the giant button.  You can find them in all sorts of places, but I buy mine online from a Canadian (because I'm in Canada and shipping is faster to me) yarn company called knitca.com    Designed By: Farrah Hodgson Skill Level: Intermediate Materials:   1 ball of Loops & Thread Impeccable; color Soft Taupe used in pattern; 277 yds/253 m; 4.5 oz/127.5g (or similar) *Note...

Soft Twist Slouchy Hat -free crochet pattern-

Here's a cute hat to make this season!  I really enjoy the pom poms on the back of this hat, it's a fun feature.  The slouch hat is still dominating hat trends, and this one uses a vertical ribbing technique by crocheting in rows and cinched together.  This crochet hat pattern is available as a video tutorial and includes a pdf written pattern. This pretty hat uses the chevron design to create the headband which features the ever so popular side button fastening.  The hat continues on with stripes using the same colors throughout. The pattern calls for a lightweight bamboo which not only makes this hat very soft and breathable, it is nice and lightweight for spring weather. Half -n- Half Slouch -free crochet pattern-

The ever so popular slouchy hat has taken over the crochet world by storm these past few years, and this simple hat is a great pattern to add to your collection.  Instead of working in the round, you work back and forth in rows and the hat is cinched together in the end.  One side of the hat uses basic single crochet stitches to give the ribbed effect and works into a nice stitch pattern as you work up the opposite side of the hat! Designed By: Little Monkeys Crochet Skill Level: Easy Materials: I hook (5.50mm) About 190 yards of Lion Brand Heartland* (Sample color: Mammoth Cave); #4 worsted; 100% Acrylic; 5oz/142g (251yd/230m) Yarn Needle Size: One Size Fits Most (Preteen - Adult Woman). Bulky Accidental Spiral Slouch -free crochet pattern-

This really cool crochet slouch hat also has a worsted weight version, but personally, I love this version the most! (the other one is still pretty cool, check it out ) I love the large texture and how the post stitches change direction, giving the spiral effect. This pattern uses bulky yarn, which also makes it work up quickly. The Christmas holidays are such a busy time for me, with having an excited 4 year old, keeping my house in order, preparing and planning gifts, meals, trips, and above most, crocheting custom orders and supplying a local boutique with my wears.  It was so much, that I was cramming items in right up until Christmas eve!  And I was exhausted!  And I thought that I couldn't wait to get a break from crocheting for once!  And here I am, three days later, feeling the urge to crochet.... I don't have much yarn left, nothing but scraps and the last thing I feel like doing this week is shopping!  So, this pattern is one that I'm sure I can pull off with my bits of yarn colors and looks pretty fabulous at the same time!   Designed By : Bernat Design Studio Skill Level: Easy Materials: Bernat Super Value, Worsted weight; in 5 colors. Pin Laced Slouch Hat -free crochet pattern-

Image
This slouchy hat is made from luxurious 100% Bamboo.    Bamboo is very soft and silky, and gives this hat a nice drape.   The hat itself, is worked up very differently; it begins with the ribbed band around the bottom, then worked back and forth in rows, leaving chained loops on each end.   Once height is achieved, the loops are worked up similarly to hairpin lace.   The hat is then closed off, using decreasing stitches in rounds.   The ribbed band has extra length, creating an overlapping cuff, where you can sew on buttons, a attach a pin, or just sew it together.
