Easy Basic Boho Hood -free crochet pattern-
You can do so many things with a basic crochet hood! You can give it braids, buttons, beads, add ears, horns, eyes, pom poms, and so much more. I've been making a few hoods lately, and this is the pattern for its basic structure. I added big wooden beads onto the braids of mine to give it bit of a Bohemian vibe. I really love my basic hood pattern because it is not flat at the back, however instead, it sort of butterflies out and around the shoulders, so that there is no bulkiness behind the neck. This pattern is super easy! It consists of half double crochet, chains, and a bit of reverse single crochet for the border.

ReplyDeleteHi! I'm attempting this lovely pattern. However, I am running into issues at round 1. My count is off. I've attempted several times. Not sure if the count is off in the pattern.
ReplyDeleteHey, I got it. sorry!
ReplyDeleteSo, if I chain 30 and I HDC 29 times where do the other 27 chains come from?! Am I supposed to actually chain 60 or something? I’m sorry, I’m new
ReplyDeleteI am really not getting round 1. 😞 Im not even a beginner
ReplyDeleteChain 30, HDC into 3rd chain from hook, HDC in next 26 stitches, 3 HDC in first chain you made, continuing down the other side (as if making booties) HDC in next 27 stitches to where you made your first HDC.
DeleteHope that helps??????
Thank you 😊

It is 2:42 am. I try on my WIP(your Basic Bohol Hood)then I look in the mirror. THIS IS PERFECT! EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR!
ReplyDelete(I may have hooted & hollered a bit in my joy...My partner was sleeping at the other end of the house. He just said that It Looks Fantastic as he shuffles off to bed after making sure I wasn't in distress)
Thank you Farrah Hodgson.
This is an important work in progress for me. I'm planning on giving this hood (with an attached scarf) to my sister. I know she wants this, I know she will enjoy it like a handmade item should.
If you looked at my internet history you would see 2 weeks of research on these hoods. Frogged til I could frog no more. I am so happy that you shared your pattern Farrah Hodgson. Very clear directions & great pics.
Betcha my sis unblocks me after she gets this in the mail. ha!
Hopefully I can post a pic when finished.
ReplyDeleteWhere do the ridges come from? How do the 3 hdc work? How does the seam happen??
ReplyDeleteWell I worked on this 5 days in row. and for 5 days i have taken it out. I am a new crocheter and that might be most of the problem. After finding my mistakes and then the rip out .. I decided to redo the end pattern increases. they seem to be messing up my over all pattern. Why because I am new at this .. I done some machine knitting years ago and sewing .. so those concepts help .. I decided to redo the pattern today with the increases at the end and beginning of the rows [ same row ] over the last two stitches. this seem to stop the bunching and warpped edges of the hat. and leaves it flowing nicer .. Not saying it going to work .. but so far it looks nicer . I only gotten to row 23 --5 times ..lol . love the hood .,. will keep on working till it right .. Thank You .
ReplyDelete3.9.24: enjoyed making Boho hood. Ran out of yarn. Must complete it today.
