Quick Cat Mask -free crochet pattern-

I wrote this pattern a couple of years ago and it was exclusively available on Ravelry as a PDF file. I almost forgot about it, until recently, because I was going through my free patterns list and creating a photo collage of my patterns. As of now, it is no longer available anywhere but here!!  So I present you... a quick and cute Halloween (or just for fun) pattern, enjoy!

Skill Level:  Easy
Yarn: Approximately 50 yards Worsted Weight (4)
Hook: 4.5mm (7)
Size:  Fits adult head.  Measures 7 inches across, not including whiskers.  Straps are adjustable to fit.
Gauge:  Not important.

Stitches (St) Used:
Sl st=slip stitch
Ch=chain
Sc=Single Crochet
Hdc=Half Double Crochet
Dc=Double Crochet
Tr=Treble/Triple Crochet
Dtr=Double Treble Crochet

Special Stitches Used:
Sc2tog=Single crochet next 2 stitches together
Picot=Ch3, sl st in 1st ch


PATTERN

Ch2

Rnd 1: 4sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to 1st sc to join. (4sc)



Rnd 2: Ch1, 2sc in same st as join, 2sc in next 3 sts, sl st to 1st sc to join.  (8sc)



Rnd3: Ch1, sc in same st as join, sc in next st, (sc, ch 21, sc) in next st, sc in next st, 3sc in next st, sc in next st, (sc, ch21, sc) in next st, sc in last st.  Sl st to 1st sc to join.



Rnd 4: Ch1, sc in same st as join, hdc in next st, dc in next st;  eye loop--  dc in 1st ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 5ch, 2sc in each next 7ch, sc in next 7ch, -- skip next sc, sc in next 2sts, 3sc in next st, sc in next 2sts, skip next sc; eye loop-- sc in next 7 ch, 2sc in each next 7ch, sc in next 5ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch;  -- dc in next sc, hdc in last sc, sl st to 1st sc to join.



Rnd5: Ch1, skip joining st, (sc2tog over next 2sts) 3 times, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next st, 3tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 4 sts, 2sc in each next 4 sts, sc in next 12sts, 3sc in next st, sc in next 12sts, 2sc in each next 4sts, sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next st, 3tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next 2 sts, (sc2tog over next 2 sts) 3 times, sl st to 1st sc to join.



Rnd 6: Ch1, sc in same st as join, sc in next 6 sts, hdc in next st, 2dc in next st,  (dc, 2tr, dc)in next st, 2dc in next st, 2hdc in next st, 2sc in next st; sc in next 11 sts, (ch3, skip 2sc, sl st in next st) 3 times, sc in next 3 sts, (2hdc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 3 sts, (sl st in next st, ch3, skip 2 ch) 3 times, sc in next 11 sts, 2sc in next st, 2hdc in next st, 2dc in next st, (dc, 2tr, dc) in next st, 2dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in last 7 sts, sl st to 1st sc to join.



Rnd 7: Ch1, sl st in same st as join, sl st in next 5sts, (picot, sl st in next 3sts) twice, (picot, sl st in next st) twice, picot- sl st in next 3 sts, picot- sl st in next 9 sts, whiskers—(ch5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 chs, sl st in next st) twice, ch5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 chs, -- sl st in next 3 sts; (2 sl st, picot, 2 sl st) in each of next three ch3 spaces; sl st in next sl st, sl st in next 12sc, sl st in next sl st; (2 sl st, picot, 2 sl st) in each of next three ch3 spaces; sl st in next 4sts,  whiskers(ch5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 3 chs, sl st in next st) twice, ch5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, -- sl st in next 3 chs, sl st in next 9 sts, picot, sl st in next 3 sts, (picot- sl st in next st) twice, (picot- sl st in next 3 sts) twice, picot, sl st in last 6 sts, sl st to 1st st to join.



Fasten off. Weave in ends.


Optional Straps

1st strap (left); With back of mask facing you; attach yarn with a sl st in stitch under last picot of ear; ch5; skip over next 5 sts, work a dtr (yarn over 3 times) in next st (above whiskers), ch 100.  Fasten off. 

2nd strap (right); With back of mask facing you; attach yarn with a sl st in stitch above top whisker; ch5, skip over next 5sts, work a dtr (yarn over 3 times) in next st (under picot), ch 100.  Fasten off.
